Authentic youth participation @ LeVa
Taking an authentic youth participation approach to the co-design and co-delivery of #GPS2016 was a priority that Le Va ensured from the outset. Our approach over nine months culminated into the two days of #GPS2016, role modelling good practice on how to work authentically with Pasifika young people.
Engaging Pasifika with Careers New Zealand
In the past two months Le Va has been working in collaborACTION with Careers New Zealand, a crown entity focusing on Career Path Development with young people. We’ve delivered a tailored Engaging Pasifika programme to more than 80 staff to date, in different cities over three workshops.

Presentation to the Public Health Leadership Programme 2016
The Public Heath Leadership Programme is designed for public health leaders in New Zealand, and is funded by the Ministry of Health. It has been developed following extensive consultation and aims to build leadership within the public health sector. It was my recent pleasure to speak with participants of its Auckland cohort to outline a Pasifika perspective on leadership.
Connecting Pasifika in Te Tai Tokerau
Te Hiwi Preston delivered the inaugural FLO Talanoa Pasifika suicide prevention workshop for communities recently in Te Tai Tokerau, Northland. The group of young people who attended provided elements of brilliance and enlightenment. Many sharing how suicide can be prevented among their peers if we implemented the following values: love, support, respect and safe spaces for engagement. FLO Talanoa – community empowerment in action
We have two workshops open for registration for those interested in becoming a FLO Talanoa Suicide Prevention Facilitator. The two-day Train the Facilitator event is free of charge but participants are expected and supported to deliver free workshops in their communities within three months of completing the training.
