      Our Upstander workshop equips our Pasifika youth and communities with the skills to take a stand against violence. An upstander is someone who notices a potentially harmful or dangerous situation and does something to make things right. They know what’s happening is wrong and have the courage to step up. To stop violence from happening in our communities, we must stand together against violence. Violence is NOT our culture.

      Atu-Mai is a national violence prevention programme based on the Cook Islands proverb Aro’a atu, i te aro’a mai – love given, love received. One of our goals at Atu-Mai is to support the professional community to support our Pasifika people. To do this, the Atu-Mai team have created a cultural competency workshop for professionals working in the violence and sexual violence sectors. Much evidence shows culturally competent practitioners increase engagement, treatment retention and treatment effectiveness.

      Mana Akiaki – LifeKeepers for Māori is the national suicide prevention training programme that is delivered through a te ao Māori lens, weaving te reo me ōna tikanga, ngā whakataukī, and mātauranga Māori. It combines an internationally proven, evidence-informed approach with local knowledge and experience, to provide a programme that is community focused, clinically safe, and culturally responsive.
      Fluency in te reo Māori is not necessary for this training.
