An empowering workshop for Pasifika parents and caregivers to learn how our cultural values can help protect children from harm, including grooming and child sexual abuse. Together, we’ll learn practical ways to create safe, loving, and confident homes where our tamaiti can thrive.
Description
Our children are precious treasures. As Pasifika parents and caregivers, we carry the sacred duty to nurture, guide, and protect them so they can grow to their full potential.
This interactive workshop will:
- Explore how Pasifika cultural values guide safe and nurturing parenting.
- Recognise signs of child sexual abuse and grooming, and understand how these behaviours cause harm.
- Build confidence to have open talanoa (conversations) that empower children to speak up.
- Learn how to respond calmly when our children share with us, and know the practical steps and supports available.
Your safety and wellbeing are important to us.
To ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone:
- This workshop is not a counselling or therapy session.
- It is not a space for sharing personal experiences of harm.
- It does not replace professional or clinical support services.
Our focus is on learning together, strengthening confidence, and building the skills that help us protect our children from harm.
