Atu-Mai’s ‘Stories of change’ track the journeys of community members who have joined Le Va through Atu-Mai’s stand against violence, working to prevent sexual violence from happening in our communities.
The purpose of these stories is to raise awareness about the work being done to address this important issue and inspire others to get involved. Sexual violence prevention starts with having conversations in our own families with our children and loved ones, about consent, boundaries, bodily autonomy and safe, respectful relationships.
Our community members have made the commitment to be Upstanders, not bystanders. Read their stories about the change they are beginning to see after training with our Atu-Mai team and starting to mobilise their communities to step in, speak up and stand together against sexual violence. We invite you to join us too.

Aisina Olo-Tulaga
“If this is being taught in our communities with our young people, then the impact will be that we will see young people in more healthier relationships.”

Josh Macfarlane
Josh Macfarlane used to be too scared to talk about sexual violence and child sexual abuse. Since becoming one of Le Va’s Atu-Mai Upstanders, that fear has gone.
