Journey to the Pacific is a fono for youth that explores our Pasifika migration stories across the Pacific, including our migration to Aotearoa. The fono also equips youth with communication tools to connect with their elders.

Description

We are walking alongside Pasifika youth and communities to equip them with the skills and tools to have respectful relationships that are embedded with Pasifika values.

Journey to the Pacific workshop – register now

Journey to the Pacific is a workshop for youth that aims to help them better understand the history and experiences of their ancestors, so they can better understand their point of view. This can help them to connect with their elders.

Workshop objectives

  • Discover the journey that our Pasifika ancestors made across the Pacific Ocean
  • Explore how they found and settled the many islands of the Pacific
  • Learn about the migration story of Pasifika elders to Aotearoa, New Zealand

Journey to the Pacific is a FREE, digital (or face-to-face), 1.5 Hour or 2 Hour fono. (Refreshments will be provided)

The Journey to the Pacific workshop has been specifically developed to meet the needs of our youth who:

  • Identify as Pasifika
  • Want to find out more about their ancestors’ migration story
  • Want to explore how understanding their Pasifika history can help them to connect with their Pasifika elders
