Markerita Poutasi

Markerita (Meg) Poutasi serves as the National Director of Pacific Health at Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand.

In this role, she is dedicated to enhancing health outcomes for Pacific communities across Aotearoa. Before her current position, Meg was the Director of Pacific Health for the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre, where she led initiatives to improve healthcare services for Pacific populations.

In September 2024, Meg was welcomed as a new member of Global Women, reflecting her commitment to fostering leadership and equity. She aspires for emerging Pacific leaders to experience environments that nurture their ability to effect change in New Zealand.

Meg is also an advocate for the “earn and learn” programme, supporting healthcare workers in advancing their careers through micro-credentialing and continuous education.

Her leadership is instrumental in addressing health disparities and promoting well-being within Pacific communities in New Zealand.
