Edith Moore

BA Psychology, MSc Health Psychology

3 Village1island Co-chair

Edith, of Cook Islands Māori and Tahitian Māori descent, was raised in Manurewa, South Auckland. She completed a Master of Science in Health Psychology at the University of Auckland in 2001, where she also worked as a tutor and course coordinator.

Her journey has been shaped by both academic training and lived experience. After a decade in active addiction, Edith entered treatment in 2015 and retrained through WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) and PET (Peer Employment Training). This sparked her passion for supporting others in recovery.

Edith joined DRIVE Consumer Direction Counties Manukau, first as a volunteer and later as Senior Network Coordinator, where she strengthened lived experience leadership across Aotearoa.

She went on to co-found national Pasifika lived experience movements, including Drua Va Manuia (for Pasifika with lived experience of addiction) and 3Village1island (spanning disability, mental health and addiction). Her expertise has been sought through national advisory groups and co-design initiatives such as Equally Well, Nōku te Ao, Ngā Hau e Whā, the Pacific Alcohol Advisory Council, and the Alcohol Harm Reduction Steering Group.

Today, Edith is a Content Creator for Ember Korowai Takitini and continues to consult with DRIVE while championing national advocacy and workforce development. She is committed to ensuring Pacific peoples can access the right support at the right time and envisions a future where Pacific lived experience leaders shape the mental health and addiction system in Aotearoa.
