Aaryn Niuapu lives in West Auckland with his wife, Alesha, and their two children. With personal recovery journeys, they are committed to mental health, addiction advocacy, and workforce development.

As Whaiora Whānau Lived Experience Director at Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tūmai, Aaryn strengthens the Consumer, Peer Support, and Lived Experience (CPSLE) workforce, ensuring those with lived experience lead mental health and addiction services. He has helped establish a Northern Region roundtable to drive best practices and role clarity.

Aaryn is passionate about mentoring future CPSLE leaders, teaching in AUT’s Postgraduate Lived Experience Pathway and supporting Whakatira Leadership, an Indigenous-led consultancy. His work champions authentic leadership, systemic change, and professional development for the CPSLE workforce.
