Teuane

A recruitment strategy to increase the capacity of the Pacific mental health workforce, with a focus on pathways to nursing in the mental health and addiction sector.

Teuane is a Samoan women’s name, but also refers to caring for people: teu means “to cherish and take care of”, and ane refers to what is being cared for or looked after

Finding pathways for nurses

Evidence highlights there is a large number of non-active Pacific nurses currently residing in New Zealand, as well as a significant number of registered Pacific nurses not currently employed in the mental health sector.

This project is about identifying and developing potential pathways for these pools of nurses to acquire a career in the mental health and addiction sector.
